been listening to Tom Petty’s ‘Wildflowers’ album a lot lately. may or may not have lost the wedding band yesterday. oh well. shrug. got a couple new rings that are nicer anyway:

spending too much time at Jekyll’s lately. while i love that joint, it is breeding ground for all sorts of drama. on a similar note, i purged a bunch of ‘friends’ from facebook today & labeled a few contacts in my phone as “do not answer.” (enough contacts to confuse me, so that if i get a text/call from one of them, i’ll have no idea who it is. genius.) i’ve decided, while i love getting to know people & love sustaining relationships with many folks from my past, i’ve got to let it all go & focus on me for a while. i pour too much energy into other people and for now i wanna harvest that energy & pour it into my own development and art. i am thinking about taking a hiatus from my ‘commercial’ work & strictly making art for art’s sake.

i miss the way life used to be, i miss searching for apartments in berkeley/oakland, i miss sophie bear and so many other things. but the past doesn’t exist anymore; all that exists is now.

time to move on,

time to get going.

what lies ahead,

i have no way of knowing…

Things have been more quiet than not lately. A little more stress-free. Kind of surprising I guess, having just started a new job at The Fire, but it’s the nicest job I could ask for right now. Feels so good to do something so hands-on. My fingers are rough & scratched from grouting mosaics and cutting glass, and I like it. I’ve been running a bit more & temps are supposed to be in the 30s & pretty sunny for the next 10 days so that means lots more running. The bills are paid, Sam’s birthday party is on Saturday, the Olympics are fun, I’ve been silencing my phone at night & sleeping a regular schedule, cooking at home a lot, you know… just all-around good and mellow. Emily & Matt close on their house tomorrow, so that’s super exciting. I wonder if I’ll ever own a house? Seems like the chores of older-home ownership can be quite daunting & that’s not too appealing to me… but at the same time, I’m a single girl in my mid-twenties. No husband or kids, I don’t have a career that’s keeping me in one place, I don’t even have a dog that needs a yard. Not to say that I don’t want those things (ok, not so much the binding career), but that’s just not me right now. I like to joke around & say, “marriage? kids? house? it would take quite the guy to change my mind…” & I’m ok with that.

Well, Blucifer & I are off to bed. Wanna catch up with some reading but… [yawn]. I’ve been reading EXPECT RESISTANCE: a field manual & THE SITUATIONIST INTERNATIONAL: a user’s guide, and I can’t imagine that the similarities are strictly coincidental… the red type, the same reference material, the similarities in titles…

xoxo,

kris.

Shawn Marie & I shot a wedding in New London last weekend, here are some snaps from the event! Congrats, Jesse & Tara!

It’s getting to be about that time when I have to start thinking about planting seeds indoors for this year’s garden. The thing that makes gardening more exciting this year is that I have an entire… huge… YARD to work with (!!!), so that means trees, raised beds, herbs fruits veggies flowers… trellises to grow climbing roses on, etc… I can hardly contain my excitement 🙂

some of the beauties I’m looking forward to planting this year:

_mimosa silk tree

_tulip tree

_white pumpkins

_pickling cucumbers

_lavender

_poppies

_red currants

_ranunculus

_melons

….and I also discovered a Weeping Pussy Willow tree (!?), but it may have to wait. Ahh! I plan to spend copious amounts of time with the gardens this summer… sigh.
